The first edition of Eat Street was a result of a practicum student at the Urban and Inner City Studies Department at the University of Winnipeg. This project was developed by Iain partnering with Neechi Foods Co-op to focus on a strategy to help increase familiarity, knowledge and interest in healthy nutritious foods.
Cover Page
This was the original cover page for Eat Street: A North End Food Security Zine. We took the idea from the movie Beat Street, a movie which pioneered break dancing and hip hop culture.
Our thinking was that we are leading the way with food security engagement trough visual arts, focusing on a youth urban inner-city audience, similar to that of Hip Hop culture.
We took the original movie poster from Beat Street and replaced the break dancers on the letters with an urban farmer and vegetables
The name Eat Street was born.
